The MOAI MIAO were born as part of the Pictoplasma AR Character Hunt, an exhibition to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pictoplasma.

I have always been fascinated by the gigantic stone statues on Rapa Nui, the Moai Maea. In the language of the indigenous people, the word ‘Moai’ means ‘to honour’. It therefore immediately struck me as entirely fitting to create colossal cats as a way of paying homage to Pictoplasma – without upsetting the secret rulers of the world (or at least of my house).
